I went on the beach again today and as I was walking along the sand I noticed that dozens of small Jellyfish were stranded on the beach.
They were mostly the Compass Jellyfish which can give a sting.
I looked them up on Google
Special features:  Compass Jellyfish are tinged orange-brown and have 16 dark brown V-shaped lines radiating from the centre which divide the bell into 32 lobes around the edge.  They have four long, frilly mouth arms which extend below their 24 tentacles.  Compass Jellyfish change their sex from male to female as they mature.  They can give a very painful sting.

In the early 30s my Dad got one done the front of his old fashioned one piece bathing suit, very nasty ended up in hospital.  :(     :'(

And this is for SDQ.......

My dog marks anything above the level of the sand, so he evened up the score for your Dad Steve as he peed on a number of the Jellyfish that were on the beach.

It's scorching hot today so I took a break from gardening and went on the computer instead and I noticed a small ship pass by but it was too far away for me to see it properly.
Rhos and the Little Orme look particularly good bathed in today's sunshine.

Thanks Jack, when I saw it it was heading in the direction of Rhyl but probably going to Liverpool.     I'm surprised that no one  has posted a photo of it at Llandudno Pier, unless of course I've missed seeing it.

I was lucky to see it last Tuesday just approaching the pier. Trouble was I was in slow moving traffic and not able to get at my camera.
Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know.

The Balmoral is in the area for a few more days.  The sailing this afternoon was Menai Bridge - Llandudno - Cruise towards Rhyl and back as far as Conwy Bay then Llandudno and Menai Bridge.  The ship will be back in September but the sailings then will be extended as their south coast sailings have been curtailed due to the pier at Cowes being out of action. It looks as if she will be here for around 3 weeks so plenty of opportunities to sail.

Current sailing timetable available in the TIC at Llandudno Library or at the White Funnel website.

It seemed to be heading in the wrong direction then Steve as it was going east past Colwyn Bay

Thanks everyone for the info on the Balmoral, I'll have to pop down to the Pier when its there.

Because of the heat, I've only just taken my dog out for a walk and at the top of Kings Drive a Fire engine came rushing up the hill with its lights flashing but no siren on and headed off in the direction of Llanrwst Road.
I've no idea where it was going but it was too hot for a long walk so I turned around then

According to the Daily Post the fire is in Cedar Park which is just off Copthorne Road

Thanks Hollins, I took the photo from my balcony which is in front of the room I use for my laptop.   The balcony is  north facing so it was the coolest place to sit today, but even then it was still too hot for my liking.

Well done Hugo, your picture made it on to Derek's BBC Wales lunchtime forecast.
