I would have liked to have seen the full list before it was shortlisted and confirmation that to enter is free.

I had a curry from the Merchant of Spice/Blue Elephant on Thursday evening and it was excellent - top marks. Also, the name has now fully changed to Blue Elephant!

Agreed, however very clever, I like the business idea, it pays to market, The Welsh Food industry is not on their list.

My guests last night went to the Bengal Dynasty and had an appalling meal. After waiting 1 hour 45 minutes for their main course they were served with inedible mush. They complained and the bill was waived, but the B D have certainly lost 2 quite regular clients.

Only been to the Bengal twice,  it was utter garbage both times Nem.
Send them to the Blue Elephant, (despite it having a pink elephant on the sign), it's the same menu as when it was The Asia,  and it's awesome.

We went to the Ty Asha in Llanwrst at the weekend, having been to the Ja Ho a couple of times in the past couple of months and felt that the standard has slipped.  The Ty Asha was excellent and has regained it's position that in our opinion it's the best Indian restaurant in the area.

Having recently extolled the virtues of the Ty Asha, we went there a couple of days ago and had a poor meal and poor service. Every dish was bland and decidedly below par. Argh!

But, the place was busy so the management were happy........ so that's all right then......

I am sorry to hear about the BG.

We often used to visit there on a Sunday for their value-for-money buffet and were rarely disappointed.

After it changed hands, we went once and in a virtually empty restaurant, we were encouraged to sit at a table immediately next to the only other couple in there.

When we went to the buffet it was empty so we walked out and haven't been back.

I hope the BG soon get their act together including removing all those old wall photographs which have long served their purpose

New Conwy town pub's taste of things to come
The Erskine Arms whets appetites with sample menu - and is just weeks away from opening.

An expensive and indulgent weekend for me...

Friday night was dinner at Johnny Dough's, absolutely top notch as always. Good sized pizza, tastes fresh, good selection of local booze. 10/10

Carlos in Craigydon on Saturday night, very good Italians (something I'm not normally too fussed on). Great service and quite a nice little restaurant.

Sunday morning soup at Tu Hwnt I'r Bont (spiced parsnip), a hearty portion size served with crusty warmed bread. Personally prefer curried parsnip to spiced parsnip but still good. The scones are good too.

Sunday lunch at The Albert, I am morally AGAINST having to pay extra for a Yorkshire pudding with your roast dinner if it's not beef. Listen here, if it doesn't have a yorkie, it is not a roast dinner in my view. Other than that, the beef I had was a touch overcooked but other than that it was good.
