That certainly narrows it down a bit...  :P

After a pleasant walk to Cadair Ifan Goch we stopped at Plas Maenan for an afternoon coffee. We sat on the glass covered verandah in very relaxing surroundings and looked at the breathtaking views of the Carneddau range across the valley.
A delightful tasting coffee, enough for 2 cups each and with cream and a shortbread biscuit was well worth the £4.50.   We were there over an hour and the ambience made you feel like you could stay there for a lot longer but we had to leave ( shops closing soon! )

Brilliant photos Hugo, they look like they could have been taken in the Caribean with the gorgeous blue sky !

Quick change of subject (but still on pubs, etc.....) as we had friends over for the busy weekend, we ventured into Llandudno for a rare night out. I hadn't had much response to an earlier post on places where we could take the children (and still feel comfortable), so we managed to grab babysitters for the evening and hit the town! (Good enough excuse to leave the monkeys at home !)

It was great working our way down Upper Mostyn Street, visiting the Fat Cat, Fountains, etc, etc...(all the places I'd heard discussed on here) However, I was really disappointed to find that there were very few places that we could get a good meal late on. At around 9.30pm, we tried a few restaurants but were told that they'd finished serving (although there were clearly loads of free tables). Is this the norm or could it have been that they'd been exceptionally busy and were happy to finish earlier?

We did end up having a gorgeous Indian Meal but I'd be interested to know of any other nice eateries that stay open late for the disorganised that don't book !  ;D

Hiya CC,
Did you decide not to bother with The Lilly?  Where I think the kids would have been more than welcome... but a little bored if they were forced to be inside.

You are right about the watershed for eating in Llandudno.
I constantly get thwarted when deciding after 8.30 to go for a meal.
The Seahorse and other good restaurants usually make 8.30pm the last booking time.  (But you do get a long, leisurely meal that way)
The Empire can be booked right up to 9pm, but no later.
Valentino's, I have seen people arriving for meals even up until 10pm ish.
The Asia, you can still get a table in there up until 10.30-ish.

The Fat Cat are more of an up market pub menu, as Dave says you can eat up to 10pm ish,  and when it's on form its very good... last night though, sadly it was not.

Looks as though I made a good decision to have my lunch rather than dinner there, then!  8)

I am led to understand that they are having problems with one particular chef at the moment... it needs sorting.

But, 95% of the time, the food is most excellent (as you well know)

Yes, Fester, we did get to the Lilly in the afternoon, where Mr. CC had the best hot and spicy burger he'd ever tasted, (although he was starving when we eventually arrived at West Shore, as we'd been climbing the Orme all day and he'd have eaten a scabby dog at that point.)

The children enjoyed playing on the swings opposite and we sat outside in the sunshine with one eye on them and one hand on our drinks as the wind was unbelievable!

The food was very good though so cheers for the recommendation !  ZXZ
