Ah yes, I'd forgotten that. I believe the intention was to brand itself the 'Smallest Tearooms In Great Britain', taking after the Smallest House on Conwy Quay.   :P

Jane Norman sells lovely clothes -  if you are size 6-10 and loaded. Their target customer was 16-25 years according to the BBC !

No wonder I could never find anything suitable there - although I am a size 8/10 I certainly do not come in the age target range of 16-25 ;D

Yes Dave, a clever concept.
Anything that latches on to the Poundland type marketing appeal is bound to be popular.
...also the British love Pies !!  (remember I told you about this only a week or two ago)

Mmmmm pies.   $dins$ $dins$ $dins$

Is it true that they put the holes in the tops of meat pies so that we can carry four in each hand?

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was the difference in cafe prices between Llandudno and Chester. Given that Chester is far more affluent and a magnet for overseas visitors, prices were very reasonable (due to the immense amount of competition, no doubt) - usual price for a Latte was £1.99. Several places in Llandudno charge considerably more than that, with the Queen Victoria pub charging £2.75!

Fortes at Rhos on Sea is verey reasonable for either Capuccino or Latte and if you want a really cheap one that isn't as bad as the price would indicate, try Tesco at the Junction - just £1.35!

Can you still get Camp coffee?

Used to quite like it as a kid. Mind you there weren't too many alternatives in the late 40s and early 50s!

Did you ever play Queen of Sheba at your house Stan?  :D

The advertisement reads:

Charades or Forfeits, Blind Man's Bluff or Queen of Sheba (you out to try that, at your next party!)--whatever the game may be, Camp is the Coffee your guests will appreciate afterwards.
More and more hostesses are serving Camp nowadays, because it is always such good coffee--and so easy to make, without leaving the jolly crowd for more than a moment.
At Dances, too, Camping out has quite taken the place of sitting out. There is no refreshment more really refreshing than a cup of Camp Coffee. Camp is made by experts, from coffee beans of the finest quality. You have only to add hot water and it's ready to enjoy.
Be sure to order a bottle of Camp Coffee in time for your New Year festivities.

How to play Queen of Sheba

Every guest except the veiled Queen and her attendants goes out of the room. Each then returns, to kneel with uplifted hands on the rug before the Queen, and to ask her three questions, to which she must answer Yes or No. At the third question, the man at the end gives the rug a sudden pull--and then the fun begins!  ???

Especially if one is prone to drinking one's coffee with their left hand on their hip and the little finger sticking out when holding the cup!    L0L

Is there any other way? Used to get Iced Coffee in the Coffee Centre made with Camp, delicious. I still get it at the Co-op

I see that a well known local retailer, Finneys of Bangor, has gone into Administration. They've been in Bangor since 1957 and used to have a large Llandudno store up until a few years ago on the old Red Garages site next to the main Post Office.
