Following the refusal to obtain Planning Permission for conversion to flats, the Aberhod Restaurant at Rhos On Sea has been closed and put up for sale at £625,000:

The Aberhod on Rhos Prom has finally closed, all signage has been removed from the building. I still think its an excellent opportunity for a good restaurant or even a food led pub.  8)

Nothing left, but great piles of timber now-- my poor Dad in Law will be turning in his grave.

Walking past it this morning it's amazing how much bigger that window looks now all the Burton interior has been stripped out.

I was saying to Fester yesterday that it looks quite small for a Caffe Nero and was wondering if they plan to use the first floor as well?

There was a lot of work going on upstairs at the new Cafe Nero site today - are they planning to make it a 2 floor cafe?

Never been upstairs but should imagine with how small it is downstairs they must be, they will need a good window scraper though there are a few layers of paint on those.

Very true! Possibly easier just to reglaze all the windows.

From Club 147s Facebook

"New Bar Opening soon...Upper Mostyn Street is the place to be this winter!"

I presume this is another re branding of the white hole that is currently called the Gresham.

The bar has been a hollow shell of it's self for years, can't see Club 147 yet again 'trending' it up is gonna make a huge difference. There is clearly a demand for a real traditionalist pub in upper Mostyn Street, as proved by how well the London does in the Summer, even with high priced alcohol (£4 plus a double)

A budget version of the London - with live music I'm sure would be a winner  ZXZ

Never gonna happen though!

Often we see rave reviews on this thread, for several eateries in Llandudno.
However, I think it is important that we have a balance, and if we are less than enamoured with any experience then we should share that with fellow forum mebers too.

Such is the case with my visit to The Mostyn Cafe, (Mostyn St, Llandudno) it is upstairs beside the Town House public house.

Dave R and I had been in there a few months ago and had a very decent snack, and that was reported favourably on here. Not so today.
I must point out before I continue that Mrs Fester thoroughly enjoyed her food, and gave it 9 out of 10.

I was attracted in by a sign that offered Jacket Spuds, with a variety of fillings for £2.75.
But, only 2 feet from it was another chalk board which confusingly offered the same meal, but at £3.90???

Undaunted, I went in to query it, and order it... but was dismayed to find that they actually didn't have any jacket spuds.
So, I plumped for the Cheese/Ham toastie that I had with Dave and enjoyed in the past.
I asked for it to have onions too, and the waiter jotted it down.

This time however, it looked decidedly less full of cheese, the slice of processed ham was a lukewarm and unappetising specimen.  And...no onion!!!
So, when I mentioned it to the waiter,at first he didn't believe me.... and then trotted off to the kitchen and returned with a mushed up bowl of boiled onions.  Not what was required at al.
He eventually returned with some raw onion, (which I stuffed inside the toastie) but it then fell apart as it was so dry from its lack of cheese.

Sadly, I will be avoiding The Mostyn Cafe in future.
I did hear other diners saying that their meals were very nice however, to be entirely fair.
