I'm told that the main work shortly to begin on the Clarence Hotel will mean that the entire pavement on that side of Gloddaeth Street will be blocked off completely, with no pedestrian access being available on that side of the road. Instead, they are going to keep the three parking spaces outside the Clarence in operation.

Seems crazy to me. Why not lose the parking spaces and have the pedestrian walkway there? It's a busy pavement in the Summer, the closure will hit local traders hard.

Anybody noticed Colwyn Bays brand new shop.
No, it's not another cafe, nor a charity shop.
It's all nicely painted up inside and out, lovely shining windows.

It's a ----- wait for it -----  the Accident Claim Centre.

"Gimberts A Cafe".
The owners must have extreemely deep pockets or are they just simply MAD.
That area is saturated with cafes, even The Fountain and The London operate as fully fledged cafes during the day time.. Not to mention Home Cooking, Coonys, Little Deli, Fat Cat, and even the chemist-Hoosons_ is to be developed as a cafe. Then round the corner is the Orient Express, and the place next to the Carlton. And they are all whinging as to how quiete is is up there.
the pot of Gold seems to have moved to St Georges place, there you have Nero, Cafe Culture, The coffee Centre, Ham bone, and it seems the town is moving south towards Bog Island and the new shops. there is even a cafe going into the Clarence Hotel. Yes we will be floating in it soon, Maybee it is our Tsunami of coffee . You must be able to sell something other than coffee teas and food these days. what I don't know. Oh what about the Castle hotel Bet that is another cafe in 12 months.

As long as mugs will keep paying up to £3 or more for a cup of hot water more coffee bars will open, they are on a good thing.

As we all know some places would never be used by us the locals and only survive on tourists, there are at least 10 places i would never dream of going in and if you check on CCBC HIT LIST MOST OF THEM ONLY GET 2 OUT OF 5 .There are a lot of good places to eat and drink and those who look after their premises will be used by us and maybe the others may die but there is always others who will have a go.

I'm inclined to agree with Ronald McDonald If I was going to open a cafe I would not open it in an area  that would leave me surrounded by competition. Some of them are very good at what thee do and some of them are very mercenary. you only need to look around to see who are the winners and loser's or plodders who just plod along paying the rent $

I was treated to a delicious birthday lunch today at Bodysgallen Hall.
Starter of home cured salmon, then roast rib of beef and rhubarb crumble. It was all good but especially the beef and the horseradish sauce!

 $dins$

A great place to go for a real treat with really good service.

The problem with the CCBC Hits List or otherwise known as scores on the doors is this.
You can have a wonderfully clean operation but if your Diary is not up to date then you will not score more than 2 out of 5. and of course they will return upon your request to re audit with in 6 weeks to 12 weeks for a fee £250.00 i believe
so they return and you score 5 out of 5 this means they will not return for another 18 months to 2 years as the return visit is time scales to the score level meanwhile you could have let your kitchen laps back to its original state especially if your staff have changed and they don't like cleaning.
I noticed the other day the old Navy club has a score of 5 . must be very clean bar, glass shelves, barrels, pool tables pool balls tv's Etc.
