Looks like the Escape shop in Upper Mostyn st is to become another cafe.

No way! Now that Hoosons Corner is shown as 'To Let' again, could that become another cafe as was originally mooted?

Looks like our "cafe critics" are going to have to pack in their jobs to get round them all!

I was in Cardiff recently and was amazed by the number of coffee shops on the main streets. It got me wondering if maybe this is the new way to go for high streets around the country? It is surely better than lines of empty shops.

It's not sustainable though, is it? More and more coffee shops mean that less will be spent in each, making some unviable as businesses.

Wht are there so many tattoo shops suddenly appearing?  There's even one in Deganwy now.  I can understand betting shops as people are desparete to get some more money but tattoos?

To be frank, I did not think the one in Mostyn Street would survive but it has and there is now one in Madoc Street and another C-y-D.

Obviously, there must be a demand.

I guess from the younger ago group or am I mistaken?

The tattoo place in Deganwy has been there at least 15 months based on this bit of free publicity (dated 18/02/11) - http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/2011/02/18/north-wales-man-has-ann-robinson-tattoo-55578-28193290/

Clearly shops aren't viable either!

I'm told the former Burger King premises in Mostyn Street has now been let. Piccolinos Italian restaurant in the rumoured tenant.

If that's true, that will be great news! Piccolino's food is excellent and they have a great reputation around the Manchester/Chester area.

I do hope it's true, but am not sure there would be enough of a demographic around Llandudno for them. They tend to be found in very wealthy suburbs around Manchester (Hale, Didsbury etc.), so moving to a location in Mostyn Street would be new for them I suspect.

But saying that I suppose there is money around the area and with visitors perhaps they think there is enough.

Still if it happens it'll be a serious shot in the arm for that area as their restaurants are beautiful and just the kind of private investment the town needs. Doubtless we'll get a lot of naysayers saying it's too expensive for Llandudno and locals won't be able to afford it etc. ad infinitum. But I think we already have a lot of mediocre 'Italian' restaurants in town, that charge too much, so to have a really decent Italian eatery would be hugely positive.

But who knows, maybe this is jumping the gun anyway.

A bit out of the Three Towns area I know, but a nice run out is the Black Lion in Llanfair TH. Last time we were there they were coping with a flood but all was well today and we had a delicious lunch of chicken and bacon with a mozzarella cheese sauce.
Hope you are not feeling hungry!
