I was sad to see today that the 55 Diner at Llanddulas had closed down and was boarded up. It's always been a great family owned business, that served excellent quality food and drink at reasonable prices.
I saw that the former 55 Diner is now up for rent, nil premium, offers invited! Previously, it was offered at £30k a year. I see no reason why it can't be operated very profitably at a lower rent.  ;)

There is an application for an alcohol licence displayed in the window with a date of 16 July 2012.

I wonder if the applicant been slow in applying for a licence?

Very good, Ian.

Whatever the reason, they will almost certainly not be open before the end of August and thus miss out on peak trading weeks.  &shake&

I know, and you are going to love this.........

.....as most will know, the premises were previously a Burger King, National Milk Bar, Etc, so, obviously, had planning permission to sell food.
Unfortunately, the last people to rent it, were the people who did about 6 weeks of selling Christmas stuff, so the council have made the new owners apply for 'change of consent', so they can sell food.

Rules is rules, I hear you say, but the Christmas shop owners NEVER changed any permissions/regulations or applied for any 'change of use', so why the need for a re-application?

The owners are not happy, nor the 20 staff that they have had to lay off, while they await their application 'to sell food' to come through.
