We stayed in Manchester last night but this morning we couldn't stand the thought of the luke warm, expensive buffet breakfast in the hotel so we braved the rain and walked down Deansgate to Katsouris for breakfast.
I had walked past this attractive building many times but had never been in before.
We both had a delicious freshly cooked breakfast, mine the small one which cost £3.50 and the larger one £5.50. Mugs of fresh hot coffee were £1.40 each.
Excellent value, we thought!

I am reliably informed that The Lilly Bar and Grill, (Formerly Fat Cat) is opening on Friday!

Dave R, it would be only fitting if you and I were to patronise this establishment on its opening day, don't you think?

It would seem that the new leaseholders of the former Merrymoon shop are trying for a cafe after all. Odd, a friend of mine who enquired was told that Mostyn Estates would not permit it.

I think I also know the gentleman, DaveR.

Hasn't he had a business before in Llandudno and has already run a successful cafe in Conwy for a number of years?

In which case, he will definitely make a success with that site.

That's good news, I look forward to visiting!  $cofffee$

The company that runs Broadway Boulevard Nightclub has gone into Administration. The club will remain open in the hope of finding a buyer.

The present lease makes it almost impossible to run BB profitably; to make it pay you need to own the Freehold and run it yourself. Having said that, the building itself is deteriorating rapidly and big bills for repairs are not far away. One to avoid, I suspect.

I like the Radisson Blu best. The one in the old Free Trade Hall building.
Good location, friendly staff and well designed rooms.
Have the breakfast up the road though!

Cheap and Cheerful is The Britannia,  (a sister hotel of Llandudno's Grand Hotel)

I know that you like buildings with architectural splendour, and faded glory, The Britannia certainly ticks those boxes.

I visited the new Lilly Bar & Grill (formerly Fat Cat) with my partner on Friday evening. Fester was already there, in fact, he was the first person through the door when it opened. The decor is much the same as the Fat Cat, the menu is a slimmed down version of the old FC menu with a few more steaks and chicken dishes. I found the food to be fine, and will certainly be visiting again. Whoever idea it was to play Guns N Roses' Greatest Hits through the sound system needs a slap, however.  >>>

Costa coffee to open in Colwyn Bay in mid-June (Bay View Centre): http://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/122851/costa-coffee-confirms-store-to-open-in-colwyn-bay.aspx
I doubt the cafe that's already in the middle of the Bay View Centre is going to approve!
