You can't record on Kodi boxes as far as I know, however you can find pretty much every TV series ever made and choose which episode you want to watch when you want. So as long as you can keep track on what episodes you are on it's not really a problem. I have a sky subscription, Netflix and use KODI for more obscure things and I have far too many things to watch and rarely get round to finishing them (I've been on Breaking bad for about 5 or 6 years and still not finished!)

That's it B2R, you can't record on Kodi, but you can simply summon up any sporting event, any box set and any film that ever existed (even brand new cinema releases) ... and watch them from the beginning.
I'm going to keep my basic Sky package, to be able to record all the usual items my Mrs and I like, just for convenience... as it will record the whole series if we are away.
But, I'll save about 60% of my Sky subs by getting a one off Amazon stick, loaded with Kodi for about £45

Recording from any HDMI (High definition) source is currently difficult, because of the DMCA, which seeks to frustrate the perfectly legitimate process of people recording shows for which they're already paid. But you can record in standard definition through the various outlets on the different boxes.

There is actually no such thing as a Kodi box per se. Kodi is software only, but you can buy pre-loaded TV boxes which are called 'Kodi boxes' although they're usually a generic streaming box built in China. A combination of Freesat, Freeview and the Amazon Fire would probably give you most oif what you wanted. You can load Kodi onto the Amazon Fire.  What you will need is a decent download speed.  Ideally aim for at least 10mb, because these boxes use a lot of bandwidth.

I suspect I am not the only one confused by new tech. And after searching various systems, no wiser, so can anyone recommend a local Home Entertaintment specialist, who could advise and set up a system for me.   Ta

Any decent TV/Sat installation company should be able to sort you out.
Orme Television in Llandudno seems to have a good reputation.
