Wonder how many they went through filming that?

I have just received my copy of the RoSPA news sheet and there is some information that may be useful to car owners and drivers.

1)  Licence SCAM.  Watch out for e-mails claiming to be from the DVLA asking for verification of your driving licence details.  The DVLA have not sent any such communication.    Seems like just another way to try and obtain your personal information.

2)  As from this Spring (now) all vehicles will have to be insured unless they are the subject of a SWORN (Statutory Off Road Notification).   This will be administered by the DVLA with the MID (Motor Insurance Database).   It will no longer be necessary for the Police to see an uninsured vehicle on the road.
Comparison of the DVLA and MID databases will highlight any vehicle without insurance or a SWORN, and the owner will be sent an Insurance Advisory Letter to this effect requesting compliance.
Fines for non compliance can be a £100 fixed penalty, the vehicle being clamped, impounded or destroyed, or a prosecution with a maximum penalty of £1000.

Thanks to RoSPA ,CARE on the ROAD mag for the information.

I am afraid that there are still drivers out there driving without insurance and it's not just people with old bangers, it's also people with high performance cars that can't afford to insure them.
What happens is that drivers obtain Insurance Certificates and after the certificate is received they then cancel the Direct Debits etc    Some Police cars are fitted with a device that identifies the cars and it will tell them whether the car is insured or not.
Unfortunately they haven't driven past that one in Conwy that has been parked there for 4 months or they would have found out that it wasn't insured, I found out and it took me less than 4 minutes.

I'll soon be buying a 1967 Triumph Spitfire, we've been without a classic car for too long now  :(
We've seen it this morning and loved it  ^*^0

Looks great!   I suppose that, apart from round town, we'll see you in the Three Castles Rally.   I'm sure you will get a lot of pleasure from looking after it and also driving on the superb roads we have here in North Wales, including the highest navigable road starting near the Southern end of Bala Lake, Bwlch Y Groes, the Pass of the Cross.  Happy motoring!

it's a mk 2 with 1147cc and twin carbs, the mk2 is the rarest Spitfire, the mk3 has higher bumpers. From 82 till 88 I had a mk1 Spitfire with8 a mk 3 1296 engine, fitted with a Vitesse close ratio gearbox with J type overdrive, grp bonnet and bootlid, modified suspension and done as a works rally car, by god that went well!  8)
