2 of the 3 things you mentioned also apply to the mainstream community, Ian!

Indeed, but you said

and I was simply pointing out that there are some inherent contradictions within the very tribal mores to which they adhere.

Not really contradictions though, are they, as it all ties in together with the overall aim of the girls both retaining their honour and becoming a desirable wife. The girls may dress provocatively at a relatively young age but that's practising to advertise their suitability as future wives. I'd suspect there are practically no gypsy single mothers.

probably because they become submissive - watching the "grabbing" ritual last night  some of the behaviour verged on assault,

I suspect the contradictions lie in the morality aspect. And I wonder how strong the Gay community is there?

Mrs F and I have just returned from Benidorm... first went 2 years ago as the in laws love it there...

I have to admit that I loved it too.
The cheesiness of the Benidorm programme is there in abundance.

But, so are classy hotels and restuarants, traditional tapas bars and a beautiful promenade and beach.

The first 2 series were hilarious, I can watch them over again... the third series was a bit contrived, and they ran out of ideas a bit.
