Our Up-and-over garage door broke on Monday and no one seemed to know of a repairer. We eventually found a chap and not only does he give yu a quote on the 'phone, but he's extremely good, doesn't charge VAT and left the garage door working better than we can remember.

That is really good to know Ian. The wires on mine snapped last year and I looked for someone then but to no avail. I then thought of doing it myself, however, it looked a bit complex with 'cones' and 'a spring that can kill you' (as one YouTube user described it ). So I did a 'bodge' job using some electrical wire and block cable connectors which sort of works but I will give this chap a go.

He used to, certainly, but I suspect he only mends them.  Still, only a 'phone call to ask...

Hello!

Anyone able to recommend a chimney specialist? Needs repointing, flashing renewing and cowls installing. Has come up on a survey as being a source of damp on our 1930s proposed purchase.

Also, guttering for bay window and general replacement of original cast iron gutters.

Thanks, Stuart

We can highly recommend T.J. Evans Roofing Ltd. 0791 9074891.

They have done numerous jobs for us, roofing, flat roofs, guttering, barge boards and chimneys.

T. J and his men have finally stopped our chimneys leaking after many others have tried and failed. The house is very old and is a listed building, therefore no task is easy !

Another one from me. The driveway on our new house is tight and could do with widening. Its previously been hit by a vehicle and the missus track record doesnt bode well.
So I need a Stonemason and an Iron gate fabricator. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Ironwork (Railings, etc)
RW Welding and Mechanical. 01492 525956 (Recommended by Fester and Bosun)

For the paving,  look up Dean Seager, general builder. He'll get the job done.

Any recommendations for removing an unwanted 3 piece suite rather urgently? Council will take ages I guess...

If it's in reasonable condition, try the charities, Heart foundation. St Davids or St Vincent's.  ££$
