Spot on Hollins, well done     $good$

The old fountain I think was nearby and in the grounds of Edgecliffe, a large house that was next to the ice skating rink that belonged to the Craigside Hydro Hotel.

The photos were taken this morning when I had a walk on the shore to the Little Orme

I came across a nice photo of Rhos Fynach in Rhos on Sea and have posted the photo below

Above the photo was a caption " Caernarfonshire Rhos Fynach Monastery 1181 AD"

The question I want to ask may be too easy for some but it's in two parts and I would like both parts answered for the questions to be correct

1)   Ignore the date of AD 1181 as it is not relevant, but is the caption "Caernarfonshire Rhos Fynach Monastery"  correct?

2)   Please give the reason for your answer to Q 1 above

1) No

2) Rhos Fynach may have been built in 1181 AD but the County of Caernarvonshire wasn't created until 1284

Or is it something to do with the spelling of Caernarvonshire and Caernarfonshire?

You are correct about the County of Caernarfonshire but that's not the answer I'm looking for.     If we use the date of 1284 or 1763 even would the caption still be correct?
It's nothing to do with the spelling as Caernarfonshire has been spelt in so many different ways it's more to do with the location!

Is it the description the issue ?  Rhos Fynach was never a "monastery", it was an outlying farm of the Abbey of Aberconwy. If the question relates to Caernaronshire, then that could be a simple error by a writer on a 20th century postcard. Llewelyn the Great granted to the Abbey of Aberconwy the "grange of Creuddyn" which included Rhos Fynach.

It's not the description I was thinking about but whether Rhos Fynach was in Caernarfonshire or Denbighshire and also the reason why someone would think that it was in that county

Does this give the answer? - seems there was a small piece of Caernarvonshire within the border of Denbighshire at one time!
