FLOOD WARNING: Denbighshire council says there is some concern about 74 properties on West Parade, Rhyl (between Butterton Road and Sydenham Avenue). There is also some concern about flooding in an area between the Nova Centre Prestatyn and the Grand Hotel, as well as the Splash Point area of Rhyl. Arrangements are being made to prepare a rest centre at Rhyl Leisure Centre, with staff on-standby to deal with any issues if a flood occurs. A team of 30 Denbighshire staff are working along the coast, assisting partners in checking defences.  Rhyl Promenade has been closed to traffic as a precautionary measure and the Council is currently sandbagging junctions of streets leading from the promenade.

DO NOT TRAVEL - No Train services on the North Wales Coast Holyhead - Llandudno Junction - Chester

Due to poor weather conditions in north Wales, trains services between Holyhead, Llandudno Junction and Chester are suspended until further notice.

Arriva Trains Wales advises passengers NOT TO TRAVEL to and from stations on these routes due to no availability of rail replacement buses and a number of road closures in North Wales. Tickets dated for travel today are valid for travel tomorrow (Friday 6th December 2013).

Amended service in North Wales due to adverse weather

Due to track damage caused by adverse weather on Thursday 05th December,  amended services will operate as shown below.

The Conwy valley route (between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno Junction) is closed and train services are suspended. The route is expected to remain closed until at least Thursday 12th December.  Replacement road transport will operate.

The North Wales Coast route is closed between Chester and Rhyl and will remain closed until at least Saturday 07th December due to severe damage to the sea wall, however an hourly train service will operate between Rhyl and Holyhead in both directions
Replacement road transport will operate between Chester and Rhyl calling at all stations.

Customers for Deganwy and Llandudno should change at Llandudno Junction where a half hourly shuttle train service will operate.
Any further information will be posted here when it becomes available.

The Met office has issued a series of severe weather warnings for the next three days:

An area of heavy, rain along with strong to gale force winds, is expected to cross the north of the UK from Friday afternoon and into the early hours of Saturday morning. This will bring some locally large accumulations, particularly on hills, and following previous wet weather is likely to lead to some localised flooding across western and central parts of Scotland, north and mid-Wales and northwest England.

This is an update to the Alert issued yesterday.

A deep low pressure system is expected to move across the Atlantic later this week, arriving into western parts of the UK on Friday afternoon. With mild air and strong winds some large rainfall totals are possible, particularly over high ground in the western and central Scotland, northwest England and north Wales. There remains some uncertainty around this system and this alert is likely to be updated in the coming days.

Currently, the Isometric chart for Saturday looks the worst for us.  The closer together the lines, the more strongly the wind will hit us:
