Eyesore? Definitely, but they will have to make some kind of a way into the place at the front, or everyone will be wading in mud !

Had a walk past the Clarence Hotel yesterday and noticed that, whilst the upper floors are looking good, no work whatsoever has been carried out on the ground floor frontage apart from the restored verandah.

We also noticed this. The front is going to have to be tidied before it can open. Were the brick archways there before, does any one remember, they would have been inside what was the café?

The brick archways look like an original (and integral) part of the building, and will have been previously concealed by the plasterwork.

Maybe they are going to just board over the two retail/restaurant units until tenants are signed up, in order to save a few quid?

That'll look welcoming if people have booked, having to pass through 2 boarded up areas !

There is a door on the side too, on Bodhyfryd Road - is that the entrance or an emergency exit?

I think passing through  two boarded up areas is still preferable to going via Bodhyfryd road !

Work is still on going at the Esplanade we noticed, so many mediocre hotels along the front with a couple of exceptions.

Could somebody at the NWWNews phone Mostyn estates and ask what is happening with the delayed Tudno Castle hotel development, you never know we might buy it if it had some interest in the town, like CCBC they are only interested in the Bay at the moment.

At the risk of stating the obvious, the Bay was classified as being a rundown deprived area, so qualified for a huge range of funding and grants to help with the town’s rejuvenation. This is no bad thing, as it’s good for the area as a whole. However Llandudno is not classed as rundown or deprived, so we get very little and with the public purse being so tightly squeezed at the moment we’re not likely to get any public money in the long term either.
