I think Prezzo may have pulled out of the Tudno Castle project hence the development put on hold.

Who is Preszzo? Are you referring to the honourable member for Parliament John Prescott the noted Rhyl pugilistic?
P.S.My spelling is as bad as his pronounciation

As one of the biggest critics of the decrepit Grand Hotel, I was very pleased to see a group of workmen on site this week.

They are from 'Crown', a company who specialise in high rise projects, steeplejacks etc.
I was chatting to the lads on Tuesday, and they are here to fix the roof and other 'difficult to access' areas, and they plan to be here for a couple of months at least.
I asked them about parking for their vans.  They said that the hotel had done nothing to help in that respect, but that they had consulted the traffic warden, who realised that they were here to work and they thought they would be OK.

So, of course as I walked past last night, ALL their vehicles had been issued a fixed penalty notice!!

They are here to work, to improve an eyesore in the town.... and they have immediately been punished by our local authority.
They cannot park far away, as they need safety equipment, tools etc, all the time.
I spoke to the lads last night, they were angry.... as their company won't pay the fines, and they didn't really know what can be done to resolve it.  Such a shame, and a lack of common sense.

They can - and should - appeal the fines (most are cancelled) but I wonder when Crown were appraising the job whether they thought to contact CCBC ahead of commencement to negotiate parking for their vehicles? The wardens would simply be doing their job, so it's up to CCBC to alert them, but if no one has officially approached CCBC then obviously the workers are going to pay the penalty. It's a shame, because with just a little forethought this could all have been avoided.

If the workers are directly employed by Crown then one solution is for them to find the nearest safe parking, then operate from there, carrying all their tools while simultaneously alerting Crown that the job will obviously take a lot longer until things are sorted.

_))* _))*  Ian have you worked on that kind of job lugging all the safety gear and tools , I have by the way , having watched some of the wardens they are sly  and part of their interview is to make sure they don,t use common sense , the guy came to price the job on the hotel  right or wrong he didn,t notice the stupid parking situation ,what gets me ref parking all along round the pier /grand how many disabled badges parked there baffles me with it being out of the way hilly walking .

I agree, Norman. The point I was making is that the only way round the current situation is to hit Crown in the pocket. Once the company realises that job (for which they've presumably quoted a fixed figure) is going to cost them a lot more then they might be moved to sort things out. If the workers are self-employed however, it's different.

So you don't drive a Riley and are not friends with Joe Grundy then?

A REVAMPED Llandudno hotel will officially open next week.

After a multi-million pound redevelopment, the now named Llandudno Bay Hotel and Spa will open its doors at a special event on Friday, July 10.
The 61-bedroom Grade II listed building, formerly known as the Regency Royal Hotel, was purchased last December and will create 100 jobs.

Chris Evans, general manager at Llandudno Bay Hotel said: “The speed in which the work has been completed on this grand building has been astonishing; especially with the high quality achieved.
“We have had a lot of interest from locals, who are excited to have a new venue at which to meet and socialise with friends, family and colleagues, and to show-off to visitors to Llandudno.
“We are very excited that the hotel is opening and look forward to welcoming guests.”

The redevelopment has seen the building transformed into a 61-bedroom, boutique style hotel, with a 90 cover restaurant, bar and lounges with function space for over 150 people.

Cllr Frank Bradfield, mayor of Llandudno, said: “I have been watching this development with interest and it is fantastic news that there is continued investment in the town.

“The new owners seem to be enthusiastic about the project and it has progressed well over a relative short space of time, which is very pleasing.
“I feel this will be a wonderful addition to the town and it is set to contribute significantly to jobs in the area is extremely welcome.”
Another hotel owned by MBi Developments, the Belmont Hotel, will open later in the year and the firm recently purchased the former Grand Theatre site on Mostyn Broadway for £140,000.
