The notice in the park now reads that a planned event, "Storm the Orme" is planned for the 7th October finishing at 10.00pm. You can't get more specific than that if a single event is being applied for.
Not sure what part of that is a food festival, we'll wait and see.

"But Andy Brazier, chairman of the Friends of Queens Park, said the application is primarily for an event called Food Slam, which will involve a running race to the Great Orme and a variety of musical entertainment."

Don't panic though....I'm sure they are not literally going to "storm the orme"  ££$

Dave, I cannot see hundreds of athletes changing in the park.

Competitors of running events normally change in the swimming centre, Venue Cymru arena or in hotels on the promenade.

I truly cannot see Dylans handing over the Washington for the whole day as a communal changing room.

If we are talking the Food Slam why not on the prom? Right opposite Dylan's to give them maximum publicity for the event would make good sense.Currently there is a ban on alcohol in CYD park as well as the prom. They just need to change the licence application.

You don't need a 5 day year round licence to give maximum flexibility for one Food Slam event. It has to be a plan for more of the same or similar. The big concern is that the park becomes utilised on a regular basis for commercial gain and not necessarily for the benefit for the local community.
The low key events that have previously taken place have been to raise money for the upkeep and improvement of the park. Why the need to suddenly increase the profile when it's not necessary is the concern of local residents.

I just said - no food and drink is allowed to be sold on the prom. Wouldn't be much of a food festival would it?

I wonder why not.... surely it couldn't be because they don't what the litter and rubbish that go with food and drink stalls could it....?

The meeting this afternoon was very well attended with standing room only. There were few if any people appearing to support the idea and very quickly Mr David Evans of Dylan's realised that the whole concept was dead in the ground as far as local support was concerned. He gave an honest appraisal of their situation and the concerns that he had already voiced to other businesses that were potentially involved some time ago. He was quick to say that Dylan's were no longer interested in being part of any event in Queen's Park as he respected the views of local residents that it was not an appropriate venue but was hopeful that at a future date something on similar lines could happen on Bodafon Fields but that would now be next year. That suggestion was very well received although there were concerns for Bodafon Farm and the vulnerability of children with special needs at the local school. He stressed that there would be full and proper consultation this time and I think he came out of the meeting with much credit in my opinion.
He passed the opportunity to the representative of Gorjys Events to explain the motives behind the application being for 5 days etc etc  but she basically failed to do so other than to say it had been about flexibility but she was under the impression that the application had recently been altered to a specific date, namely 7th October. This is not true and it beggars belief that she could think differently. Unless I misunderstood she also suggested that the the CEO of Gorjys had refused to change the application from an open ended one to a specific date despite growing opposition a good while ago.
So as we returned through the park someone from Dylan's was removing the notices about the event on the 7th October so that is the first victory.
Gorjys are still lurking in the background and if they haven't got the message that CYD park isn't the place for their commercial ventures they are either stupid or arrogant beyond belief.

And as an aside the meeting started with a short film showing people eating and drinking and generally having a good time. No evidence of bad behaviour as you would expect from such an event.
What was telling though was that the event was held on hardstanding. On 7th October CYD park is highly likely to be very wet underfoot.

Mr David Evans of Dylan's time might be better spent getting Dylan's restaurant itself up to an acceptable level. Most of our chums have been there and I've yet to hear a comment better than 'average', some have been very critical indeed, certainly nothing to entice us to visit. I'm getting the impression that the management are not actually bothered as long as they are getting the through-put; the fact that most of their local customers would not return or recommend Dylan's seems of no consequence to them. This half-baked idea of a food-slam in the park also shows how out of touch they are with local opinion.

Tudno Castle is coming down, Gwyn Jones of You Know You are From Llandudno Facebook page  reported an application has been submitted to demolish as it's in too poor a condition to retain.

In 2014 Opus North (Llandudno) Ltd and Tudno Development Ltd received planning permission from Conwy Council to redevelop the derelict Tudno Castle Hotel. The proposed development would provide a 63 bedroom hotel with restaurants and new retail units, retaining and incorporating the listed façade (planning application number 0/40758).

Work started on the development in early 2017. However, as work progressed it became apparent that the building was in a much poorer condition than first thought. As a result, it is not possible to retain the façade as originally proposed.

Against this background, Opus North (Llandudno) Ltd and Tudno Development Ltd are proposing to submit a revised planning application to demolish the former Tudno Castle Hotel. The original façade of the building will be recreated so the building will retain its original look from the outside alongside the new retail elements.

On this website you can view all the documents Opus North will submit as part of the planning application and leave your comments about our revised proposals.

Quite sad really, but there'll be a few smug people on here, delighted that they have stopped something happening rather than creating something.

So everything is about blocking, destruction or negativity.

Who needs Trump and Kim Jong Un when we can do such a good job of it ourselves eh?

Tom, please come back when you have some GOOD news to report, such as Mr Waldron getting permission to actually CREATE something.

Fester, me old mate, what utter rubbish. Glass half full - or half empty. Good news is that the park is not being wrecked, and good news that the Tudno is coming down so that something new can take it's place - at last!.

I can only suspect that you are suffering from a lack of beer......
