Billy also plays the bugle and although he's prone to hitting a few of the wrong notes it's a pleasure to hear him practicing. No complaints about noise there then!!

We walked along the Prom and through town on Sunday afternoon and the whole area was heaving. I do see though that there are quite a few people who visit Llandudno that do not contribute much, if anything, to the town, as they bring their own food/drink and do not spend anything with the town's businesses.

None more than those who bring a picnic, park for free and use the CyD paddling pool.

However, it is only a problem for CCBC when they park a motorhome overnight and over a grid outside the paddling pool toilet facilities.

You're getting the point now Dave, its weekends only, for a few hours.
Outside that 'sweet spot' many of the businesses are closing early, and in some cases opening later.
A case in point is Cafe Indugence.  They open at 10am, but they know their first customers will be around 10.30 or 11am these days as most people have breakfast in the hotels or on the caravan site.
They close at 2.30pm, because they have learned that little or nothing their way after that time.
That's a very short working day is it not?
Imagine that happening in Blackpool say?

Your point about the increasing number of people who are coming who spend ZERO is also noted.

Blackpool's seen declining numbers of tourists for years.

I think there's some truth in it - they could hardly make up the bit about the hotels - but the UK is experiencing a lot of foreign visitors this year.  But I'd be wary about describing it in the same vein as that of someone who describes anything he doesn't like, true or not, that way.

I socialise with several people who cater for the tourist industry in Llandudno in a variety of ways, "unusually" they all seem very content with their current businesses. There is however, a lot of muttering about the number of coaches bringing a new type of visitor here on day trips. They set up on the prom with their own food and amusements, and enjoy themselves without spending a bean. Good for integration I suppose, but not so good for our businesses.
