With good reason, generally...

I noticed today that all the glass is being removed from the canopy of the Broadway Boulevard/Grand Theatre, presumably for safety reasons. Word is that there's no money to replace it, unfortunately.

From what I saw when passing this morning, the glass (or some of it) was not being removed intact because there was broken glass all over the pavement.

Quite a few panes were damaged. Odd idea to remove all of them instead of just the odd broken one though.

A reminder that Mostyn Street will be closed from Midday today for Extravaganza preparations. Bryn Y Bia Road in Craig Y Don is already closed.

The Alice Tea Party was held on the Prom this afternoon, and a very good event it was too. 1,716 people were there to break the world record for jam tart eating. Many people had made the effort to dress up in character and even the rain held off. I said hello to a few Forum members as well, you know who you are.  ;)

Have walked through part of the set with the dog this morning and it is getting quite busy. Spoke to a few familiar faces from past years including Queen Victoria !
Going now to get my costume on and join the parade.

When I left the house this morning, I thought the cold weather might keep the visitors away from the Extravaganza. How wrong I was!

I've been in the Parade now for 12 years and I don't think I have ever seen the crowds so big!. So many people cheering, taking photos and clapping-- a lovely atmosphere.
