Train passengers spared disruption as planned strike called off
NORTH Wales train passengers have been saved from disruption after rail workers called off their strike.
The RMT Union’s planned 48 hour strike on the North Wales Coast and Conwy Valley lines on Thursday and Friday has been called off pending “further talks” to discuss a dispute over sickness absences with Arriva Trains Wales.

Alice in Wonderland tourism app launched in Llandudno ...........AGAIN

The original launch of the app in August was delayed after key figures for tourists to follow were altered.

Company director Barry Mortlock said: "I've lived in Llandudno for 36 years now, and it worried me that the town wasn't doing enough in recent years to celebrate its links with the real life Alice.

"The app is now ready for next year's important anniversary.

"It has the potential to attract more visitors from overseas, where there's a huge interest in the Alice in Wonderland stories."

Graham Rees, Conwy council's cabinet member for tourism, said: "This will be a huge asset to Llandudno and
really enhance what we can offer to visitors."

Yes, I've been losing sleep over that, too.

Could one ask why, when a massive grant has been given to develop this Trail, that users have to buy the App? Who receives all the proceeds?

I was looking at the new Sailing Club Slipway the other day, and it is several feet lower than the areas of shingle that surround it on both sides. It isn't hard to see that the first storm of the Winter will bury it completely under tons of shingle and have to be removed at regular intervals thereafter, at considerable expense to the taxpayer.
I see this issue is now on the front page of the Weekly News, with the Sailing Club complaining (rightly) that the new Slipway is already getting blocked with shingle. Perhaps the designers should have realised that there was a reason that the old slipway was carried high over the shingle before dropping down to sea level. As it stands, this means that the slipway will require regular shingle removal indefinitely to make it fit for use.

To who? The pensioners who come here don't have Iphones and locals certainly aren't going to buy it.
