I was amazed to see that CCBC had chosen the busiest week of the year to get contractors to paint the Prom Shelters and seats...

Closing the public toilets too and  closing the Prom in Colwyn Bay.   At least they are consistent in their decision making

Special Report: The development shadow looming large over Conwy's Bodafon fields and other greenfield sites

Residents and community leaders demand answers over picturesque Llandudno site, while pressure is greater than ever on other green wedges around county because of government housing targets.

Hardly 'investigative', the controversy over the threat of development of these fields has been simmering for years; local Councillors have been shouting about this and others issues of the LDP on a regular basis. The furore that the proposed development at Pentywyn Road has caused has highlighted local concerns, but there's nothing in the article that could be termed 'investigative', it's simply reporting known issues.

Finding out what's happening to the Pier Pavilion site would be termed 'investigative'.....

Although it is common knowledge that Mostyn Estates want to build houses on Bodafon fields, it was still interesting to read that article.
There are things going on behind the scenes and I don't think Mostyn Estates will ever give up on the idea of developing the land into a housing estate.

I was reading an article about the new Lifeboat Station in Llandudno which is adjacent to the fields and read that Mostyn Estates "made available the land" for the new Lifeboat house to be built.   Does anyone know if this land was given to the RNLI  or did the RNLI pay Mostyn Estates for the lease?

I agree.

It would also have been helpful for there to have been directions on the hoarding informing everyone where the temporary police station is.

Simon was on the toll gate yesterday from 0900 to 1515, when he closes down to count up, then the 1600 chap turned up, so there was only a 45 min period when it wasn't manned.

Hundreds of properties in Llandudno have been hit by a huge power cut.

Around 400 properties in the town , including stores on Mostyn Street, lost power just before 3pm.
Shops including Greggs, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Trespass, Shoe Zone and Pound Bakery are all understood to have been forced to shut for the day.

Signs have been put in the windows of many of the affected stores stating they have been unable to remain open due to the power problems.

The Great Orme Tramway is also thought to have been affected, with staff tweeting that it has closed for the day due to “technical issues”.
A tweet said: “Due to technical issues, the Tramway will be closed for the remainder of the day. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

Engineers from Scottish Power are on the scene trying to fix the problem, which has been caused by an underground cable fault.
Less than 100 properties remain without power.
A Scottish Power spokeswoman said: “A power cut was reported in the LL30 area of Llandudno just before 3pm today.
“It has been caused by an underground cable fault and affected 400 properties originally.
“Our engineers are on site trying to fix the problem and many customers have had power restored.

“We are working on the problem and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience.”   ref DP

The power cut was yesterday - Bank Holiday Monday - and it took out several of the seafront hotels. Scottish Power were ferrying little gennies to one and all.  Has it happened again today?
