Limiting what new drivers can do will combat 'needless' deaths, says AA
The AA president said one in five young drivers crash within a year of passing their test.

A series of restrictions on new drivers may soon be on the horizon, as they could save thousands of lives and help tackle serious injuries on the road, according to the AA. The automotive firm said motorists should be prevented from carrying similarly-aged people for at least six months after they've passed their test.

It also advised that new drivers should be forced to keep a record of evidence that they've driven on every type of road. The restrictions would be in force under a graduated driving licence system; these licences place limitations on motorists for a specific period of time after they've passed.

They're used in a number of countries, including the US, Canada, Australia and Sweden. In July 2019, The Department for Transport (DfT) revealed that it was considering launching the licences across England. However, it was stopped in 2020, partially due to the possible impact on young people's job prospects.

WORK to install two new toucan crossings on the A470 is underway.

Work to make 'active travel' changes started in January on Marl Lane and A470.

New paths and kerbs on the A470 have been installed and on Marl Drive, work has started on a shared use path, new kerbs, and crossing points.

A spokesperson for Conwy County Borough Council said: "Work is continuing on this active travel route. Our contractor has installed the new path and kerbs on the A470 and is now working on two new toucan crossings.

On Saturday I drove up Ty Gwyn Road Llandudno and intended to turn right and go up Wyddfyd Road and park my car by the Ski Lodge.
However when I stopped at the traffic lights I noticed a road sign that clearrly indicated no right turn so instead I drove up and parked my car in St Beuno's Road
Later on I walked down Wyddfyd Road and noticed that the Ski Lodge car park was locked so there is no access to it from Wyddfyd Road but how do the residents get their cars in to the road if the road sign says no right turn?

We had visitors in the garden last night.    The Badgers had got in my back garden and climbed up a tree to get at a Peanut holder I have got for the birds.  They scrunched the top so much so that I'll probably need to buy another new one.
Because they failed to get the peanuts they have taken it out on my lawn and it now looks like an area of the Klondyke!
The photos were taken a while ago when the Badgers used to come here every night and not do any damage

Dog struggling in Great Orme cove's waters saved by RNLI
The dog got into difficulties near Pigeon's Cove

A happy ending thank goodness and another great rescue by the RNLI.        I just hope that the owner had to walk back to town after that preventable incident.   Why was the dog off the lead in the first place as there are Seals on the beach and livestock on the grassy slopes?

It's a pity today's journos just print press releases without asking relevant questions.  The current Chester-Lime Street operates broadly hourly during the day.  Does the extension to Llandudno mean that the Llandudno-Manchester services will divert to Bangor as was previously mooted ? Given the regular Merseyrail services into Liverpool from Chester, a question could be posed as to whether a Llandudno-Crewe service would be more helpful to North Wales travellers, especially those going to/from Scotland, the West Country and the East Midlands, let alone augmenting the poor Avanti service.

Stunning house a stone's throw from one of Anglesey's best beaches up for grabs
'The exclusivity of this property lies not only in its picturesque setting but also in its characterful design and architecture'
"Up for grabs?"  but not if you are local.       More suited to the Cheshire set  or those people wanting to add to their portfolio of property rentals

THE OWNER of a popular tea room and caf? in the centre of Llandudno has decided to sell the business.

Karen Thompson, owner of The Lemon Tree Tea Rooms, at 5 St George's Place, has made the ?heart-breaking? decision to sell the caf?.

Ms Thompson said the decision was ?huge?, having run the business with her parents Brian and Sheila after opening in 2017.

She said it had been a ?journey and joy? to create what they have, but that the health of her and her family was the priority.
