Local News & Discussion / Re: Free car parks in Conwy set to introduce charges
« Last post by SteveH on Yesterday at 09:54:53 am »
Conwy will introduce charges at two of its free car parks this week. And prices are set to increase at all Conwy ?s pay-and-display car parks from Friday (March 29), in time for the busy bank holiday weekend.

The extra cost to drivers follows the authority slashing front-line service budgets and increasing council tax by 9.67%. The cash-strapped authority is blaming the Welsh Government for the move after receiving the joint lowest rise in Wales of its annual local government settlement.

Free car parks at Llanfairfechan promenade and Plas yn Dre in Llanrwst will see parking charges introduced from 80p for one hour, ?1.60 for two, ?3.60 for up to four hours, ?5 for over four hours, and ?6.20 for 24 hours. Drivers will even be charged ?1.20 to park overnight. New increased pay-and-display charges will also be introduced across the county but will vary car park to car park.

Whether you're a young person preparing for an independent life, a parent looking to boost your numeracy skills, or simply someone who wants to get a firm grasp on numbers to help you keep on top of your finances - the Multiply Scheme can help.

This free online course and in-person workshops could help you get a handle on numbers
The fully-funded Multiply course from COPA can help enhance your numeracy skills in everyday life

Maths - some of us take to it like a duck to water, while for others it's like trying to understand a foreign language with a totally different alphabet.

But while it can be hard to relate the algebra, quadratic equations and endless times tables we had to study at school to everyday life, the fact is that we encounter maths all the time - from measuring for DIY to totting up bills, and from estimating distances to following recipes. Above all, if you want to make progress with your career, then maths cannot be ignored.

COPA - the Welsh word for peak or summit - is an organisation committed to helping people gain the skills and qualifications that will make them more employability, helping people take control of their future and boosting their confidence so that they can reach the peak of their potential.

Now, COPA is offering a free and flexible numeracy course to support you in your journey to conquering numbers.

That' an incredible achievement DVT, well done.     When I used to walk my dog I'd often meet Roy White and he would tell me about your exploits in the Rallying World and it was really interesting to hear all about them.         It was nice to see the photo and Ill mention it to Roy when I see him next

It's no wonder that your thoughts on the present 20 mph rule are unprintable           ;D

Certainly is!  1974 Manx International.  Finished 32nd overall, 3rd in class.
The car was registered new in September 1973 and did three rallies that year, then there were no rallies due to petrol crisis for a few months.  During that time it was converted from being an Avenger Tiger Mk2 to being a Group One GT model.
We did 16 rallies in it, then in November 1974 it was replaced by the red one GCC11N.
Lot of success with Red Garages back in those good old days ...

A different venue, on a Friday night, for a worthy local cause we all know and appreciate, with same band and a rip-roaring atmosphere. Be there to sing along and be part of it. (There might even be room for dancing !)

Is this you and Colin Mack?

Another update.........

Banksy: London tree mural covered in plastic and boards

The street artist claimed the Finsbury Park mural on his social media on 18 March.

The mural features swathes of green paint on a residential building behind a nearby tree to give the appearance of leaves.

Days later it had been strewn with white paint.

Previously, Islington Council said it was installing CCTV cameras and looking at other ways to protect the work.

The authority added it wanted the piece "to stay".

VISITORS to North Wales can play their part to help protect nature and the environment during the Easter break.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is gearing up to welcome a high number of visitors to its woodlands and National Nature Reserves over the Bank Holiday weekend and school break and people are being reminded to follow the Countryside Code and any site-specific guidance.

As more people have become aware of the health and well-being benefits of time spent in nature over the last few years, there has been an increase in visitors.
