That's exactly what happened Snowcap. I'd supported Man Utd from the day they signed Tommy Taylor from Barnsley but one day I went with a group of Liverpool supporters to Elland Road and watched a great game which Leeds won 2-1  I was then converted to being a Leeds fan.
To be honest I was sick and tired of seeing about 20,000 Utd fans getting soaked week in week out at the scoreboard end because it wasn't under cover then.  Apart from that Utd had a poor ageing side that they didn't replace and they seemed reluctant to purchase top names that wanted to go to Old Trafford.  Alan Ball {Blackpool)  Mike England and Alan Clarke to name just three.  I don't know why they weren't signed or if Utd had a policy of only having Catholic players, I'm not really sure.
The Liverpool support came in the late 80's and Arsenal since they had Dennis Bergkamp.
As for City and Chelsea no, even if they win the league this year!

Man City striker Carlos Tevez misinterpreted over 'refusal' to play

Carlos Tevez was mistranslated in an interview that contributed to him being suspended by Manchester City, claims his advisor Kia Joorabchian.

The Argentine striker was banned for two weeks after allegedly refusing to come on as a substitute in City's 2-0 defeat at Bayern Munich.

After the match a club translator quoted Tevez as saying: "I didn't feel right to play so I didn't."

But Joorabchian insisted that "the interpretation was incorrect".

Joorabchian says Tevez's lack of English has contributed to a misunderstanding Carlos Tevez was mistranslated in an interview that contributed to him being suspended by Manchester City, claims his advisor Kia Joorabchian.

Carlos does speak English but his English his not good enough to host a full-blown interview

He reiterated that Tevez refused only to warm up and added: "He feels he has been judged and condemned before the case has really been looked in to."

Tevez met City officials on Monday as part of an investigation into the incident before flying to Buenos Aires.

He is expected back at training next Wednesday, 12 October.

The 27-year-old blamed "confusion on the bench" for the "misunderstanding" in Germany and felt there was no reason why he should apologise to City manager Roberto Mancini.

Speaking at the Leaders in Football conference, Joorabchian suggested language problems might have been to blame in the post-match interview.

"Carlos does speak English but his English his not good enough to host a full-blown interview," stated the Iranian-born businessman.

It is damaging to Man City, to their manager and to Carlos Tevez

Former Man City manager Mark Hughes
"I listened to the questions in English and the interpretations in Spanish. Both questions were interpreted incorrectly and both answers of Carlos were then misinterpreted."

Tevez was signed by then City manager Mark Hughes in the summer of 2009 and has since scored 53 goals in 91 appearances.

In May, he captained the club to the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory over Stoke in the final at Wembley, their first major trophy in 35 years.

However, he has also twice asked for a transfer away from Eastlands and looked set to get his wish before a proposed £40m move to Brazilian side Corinthians fell through.

He has made five appearances for City this season but only two starts and is yet to score.

Hughes - who is also represented by Joorabchian - struggles to see a way for Tevez to return to the City side.

Hughes told BBC Sport: "I think it would be very, very difficult [for Tevez to return].

"The assumption is that Carlos refused to come on to the field of play. Let's hope it is [clarified in the next few days] - one way or the other - because it's damaging to Man City, to their manager and to Carlos Tevez.

"A lot of things were said but there are not too many options [for him] if things are proved to be correct.

"It's a shame because we don't want top players to leave the Premier League, but if it's borne out that the things suggested are correct, it will be very hard to see any other outcome."

However Joorabchian believes Tevez has always acted professionally and is keen to play football.

TEVEZ IN ENGLAND
Jul 2009 - present Man City: 91 appearances, 53 goals
Aug 2007 - Jul 2009 Man Utd: 97 appearances, 34 goals
Aug 2006 - Aug 2007 West Ham: 29 appearances, 7 goals

"You can criticise Carlos for anything but one thing you can't criticise him for is his commitment when he's on the pitch and you can never criticise him for wanting to play," Joorabchian added.

"There have been several times at Manchester City throughout his two-year career where he is taking injections, playing with swollen ankles, where he has played in situations when maybe even doctors have told him not to play.

"My opinion is that Carlos throughout his career has been one that fights to play. If there is any issues it's because he's always so eager to play.

"You have to remember Carlos joined Manchester City when he had an official offer from Real Madrid and Manchester United on the table.

"He was one of the first players to join Manchester City's new vision. It's a great vision and Carlos was brought in to help start that vision.

"So he feels very differently towards the club, he has a very intense feeling."

Whilst I entirely agree with your sentiments, norman08, I do think an extra nought has found its way into the weekly wage you have quoted.  :-}}}

Just what does Tevez really want?    If it's trophies etc he had them at Man Utd if it's money then he's got it at Man City and possible trophies.

Good result on Sunday for Man City too!

Seems daft to me when two clubs from the same town play each other!   When I supported Barking (as a very young lad), the town only had one team so you knew where you were!     :D

That's an old comment and if you search you will find that it was first used on this Forum months and months ago!
In fact in 2010.

I see that Tevez is in trouble again with Man City as he has gone AWOL to Argentina to see his family there.  I thought that he said that his family were coming to Manchester but that must be another of his porkies.
He's crackers, I wouldn't mind just sitting in the stand and getting 200K per week  watching City beating teams 6-1

Carlos Tevez - AWOL

Hugo, have you considered City are not playing this weekend and Argentina have World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia tonight and Colombia next Tuesday?

Also, Tevez has not gone to see his family out there as his family flew out with him.
.
He is certainly making a mockery of City but it does not appear to be affecting their performance on the pitch yet.

The fact that City are not playing this Saturday is irrelevant Bri and as he has not been selected to play for Argentina either then there was no need for him to fly over to Argentina.

The thing is Tevez is not fit at the moment and he should have been training  at City but he has gone over there without permission and is therefore in breach of his contract.

What he has done is indefensible and I hope he pays for it when he comes back.  On his day though, Tevez is a great asset and if he had  been playing at Old Trafford the other week then City could well have had a goal tally in double figures.

No doubt, Hugo, you will be pleased he won't be playing against Liverpool later this month.
