AERIAL drone footage filmed while ascending the Great Orme in Llandudno has been shared online.

The video, captured by aerial photographer Steve Hammond, of Gosport Drones, is one of several he took in Llandudno, with others focusing more on the centre of the town.

All of them are available on his Facebook page - www.facebook.com/GosportDrones.

You can watch the footage of the drive to the summit of the Great Orme below:

THE PLAY area at the Great Orme summit is set to reopen in a matter of weeks.       ref pioneer

Last year, a new entrance was installed at the picturesque play area.

Now, the area is complete with a new turf, with other "final treatments" being put in place.

The play area is one of three on the Great Orme, with the council planning for to reopen it in two weeks.

A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said: "We know the newly improved play area at the Great Orme summit looks really tempting - but it's not quite ready yet!

"The new turf needs to settle and get final treatments before it's ready to be walked on.

"The play area will reopen in 2 weeks."

A herd of goats will be taking up maintenance duties on an area of protected hillside surrounding a landmark lion figure.

Fifteen Kashmir goats will be grazing the site of special scientific interest (SSSI) owned by Whipsnade Zoo which surrounds the 147m (483ft) chalk white lion in Bedfordshire.

The area is looked after by volunteers who are not allowed to use pesticides and machinery on the land.

Sarah Forsyth, curator of mammals at the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) which runs the zoo, said: "It's lovely to have Kashmir goats at Whipsnade Zoo again, and the new herd will be doing some really important work to make sure our site is a place where all our wonderful wildlife can thrive."

Great Orme Tramway: A ride through Llandudno's streets
A ride on the Great Orme Tramway after the service re-opened, and the experience did not disappoint.

Britain’s only surviving funicular, or cable-hauled, tramway, the Great Orme Tramway first opened in 1902.

Great Orme Mines: A tour of the landmark after re-opening
A tour of the Great Orme Mines after the landmark re-opened to the public earlier this month.

The Great Orme Mines date back to the Bronze Age, a period between 2200 BC and 800BC.

Yet the landmark continues to captivate visitors around 3,700 years later, offering a varied interactive experience.
