New bypass falls short of previous £14m plans as locals plead 'get on with it'
The bypass for Llanbedr was given the go-ahead in March 2020 but then scrapped in November 2021, with a new road scheme now being put forward for the village

North Wales Live readers have been voicing their opinions on the proposed new bypass for Llanbedr, expressing both frustration and optimism about its potential impact. However, the new plans fall short of previous proposals.

The revised relief road scheme, alongside other options, has been put forward for the Gwynedd village that lost its planned original bypass. The £14m bypass, initially given the green light in March 2020, was scrapped in November 2021 following the Welsh Government's climate change roads review.

Councillors throw out bid to build 36 homes near Gwynedd Aldi as they are 'out of reach' for locals
'The town is in dire need of affordable homes and social housing'

It was "hugely disappointing" that the homes were not affordable and "out of the reach" of local people," she said.

"They are priced around the £230,000 figure, a salary of 40k would be needed to own one of these houses, that is not the average salary in Pwllheli, it does not come close.

Zip World Llechwedd shares details of Mine Tour enhancements
Zip World’s Deep Mine Tour, which takes visitors to the depths of the Llechwedd caverns, will now feature a range of new interactive elements, available from Saturday (April 5).

The history of the mine dates back to 1846, when it was opened by John Whitehead Greaves, a successful quarry owner.
